A fight record is three or four numbers, and each one cost something. Behind a 6-2 amateur record are weight cuts, early morning runs, sparring rounds nobody saw and nights in a back room waiting to be called. Fighters remember every bout: who they faced, how it ended, what they learned. Gifts that keep that record are the ones that end up on the gym wall or above the desk at home.
The Record, a fight career on one print
The Record puts a fighter's career on one print. The name (and fight name) is set big with the record, W-L or W-L-D, and the tale of the tape. Below that comes every bout with the date, the opponent, the result and how it ended: KO, TKO, submission or decision. It works for boxing, MMA, kickboxing and Muay Thai. From $45.
It suits an amateur after a first full year of fights, a pro marking a milestone, or a fighter hanging up the gloves after a long career.
What to gather
- Every bout: the date, the opponent's name, the result and the method. Add the round if you know it.
- The tale of the tape: height, weight class, reach and stance, the way the fighter wants it shown.
- The fight name: a nickname, if they use one. Ask before you print it.
- Where to look: the fighter's own records, their coach, bout sheets from events, and any online record listings for their region.
Event and promotion names print only as the words you type, in our own type, never as a logo. Spell opponents' names the way they appeared on the card.
The Journey, for the grappler's belts
Many MMA fighters came up through jiu-jitsu, judo or a striking art with ranks. The Journey draws every belt from white to black in its color, stripes and all, climbing the print in order with the date and place each one was earned. Hung next to The Record, it shows both halves of a mixed martial artist's story. From $45.
Rank Promotion Certificate for a new belt
When a fighter is promoted, the Rank Promotion Certificate marks it: the school, the student's name, the new rank with the belt drawn in its color (stripes and degrees too), the date, and signature lines with the instructors' names. It's a good gift from a coach, or from a gym that wants something more lasting than a handshake on the mat. From $24.
A Milestone Certificate for a first fight
The first time a fighter steps through the ropes or into the cage is a day they won't forget, win or lose. The Milestone Certificate records the name, the date, the place, the details and the witnesses. List the event, the corner team and the teammates who drove out to watch. It also suits a first win, a first title or a first pro bout. From $24.
Hall of Fame Plaque for the coach or the gym's founder
Boxing gyms and fight teams usually run on one person's stubbornness. The Hall of Fame Plaque Print gives that coach an original bronze-on-green plaque: their name in big raised capitals, a nickname, the years, your paragraph about what they built, and a few headline numbers like fighters trained or titles won. Gather the paragraph from former fighters. From $45.
Team socks and bags with the gym logo
Team Socks can carry your own team or club logo near the top with the fighter's name running down the leg. The Team Drawstring Bag holds wraps, gloves and a mouthguard. A gym ordering for every member of a fight team gets 30% off. Use a logo the gym owns. Socks from $26, bags from $34.
Practical gifts fighters appreciate
- Hand wraps and a mouthguard. They wear out and go missing.
- Private lessons with a coach they want to learn from.
- A recovery session the week after a fight.
- A frame for the fight poster or the event program, hung beside The Record.
- Gloves only if you know their size, weight and preference. Otherwise, a gift card.
A note on timing
Fight week isn't the time for gifts. The fighter is cutting weight and thinking about one thing. Wait until after the bout, or give The Record at the end of a year, on a birthday or at a retirement party. If a fight is coming up soon, order after it so the result makes the print.
